East Renfrewshire: Perfect Place to Broaden Horizons

Dams to Darnley Country Park East Renfrewshire is a truly aspirational area of leafy suburbs.  With lots of green space in popular parkland, and a hot spot for great schools, it boasts a flourishing housing market.

Situated 20 minutes south of Glasgow city centre and connected to the M77, it also offers an excellent environment to do business. This is reflected in the fact that East Renfrewshire is one of eight neighbouring local authorities participating in the Glasgow and Clyde Valley City Deal, the first deal of its kind in Scotland.

As well as creating a £1.13 billion infrastructure investment fund, it is estimated the City Deal will deliver around 29,000 jobs across the city region and leverage an estimated £3.3 billion of private sector investment. The money, provided by a mix of funding from the UK and Scottish Government and local authorities across Glasgow and Clyde Valley, will be spread over 20 years and be focused on supporting economic growth across the region.

"Ambitions for the area are clearly high and the means to realise them is now stronger than ever as East Renfrewshire's share of the City Deal funding is £44 million. We see the City Deal investment as a long-term opportunity and thoughtful planning will maximise resources to the benefit of all."
- East Renfrewshire Council Leader, Jim Fletcher

"Being one of the smaller councils, the Invest East Renfrewshire team are able to work face-to-face with new investors, whatever their sector, and offer specialist advice and support to make it easier than ever to do business in the area. Multi-million pound investment into transport infrastructure will improve transport links between our communities and to new employment markets, and open up a variety of new business locations. A possible new railway station and road improvements in Barrhead will link new residential developments with communities across East Renfrewshire, improve access to Dams to Darnley Country Park and provide first-class commuter links to Glasgow City Centre."   -  Iain MacLean, Head of Environment at East Renfrewshire Council
